Partnering with visionary leaders

A professional editor and writer, I help you anchor your ideas in experience and research and publish articles that build your reputation as an authoritative expert.

Giving voice to bold, insightful, and galvanizing ideas.

You built your career and reputation on your hard-earned knowledge and experience. Your colleagues and clients seek out your opinions and respect your insights. You love your work in large part because it allows you to be of service. You’re ready to step onto a larger stage. But how do you transform that one BIG idea into a movement?
That’s where Catchline Communications excels.

I am a published writer, avid researcher, and experienced editor. I believe in the transformative power of words. I also believe your BIG idea — your bold, insightful, and galvanizing idea — can change the business world for the better.

I coach you through the process of writing, pitching, and publishing articles that test your idea in the marketplace and build your reputation as an authoritative expert. These articles create a body of work that demonstrates your expertise, expands your influence, and magnifies your impact. They lay the foundation for that book you dream of writing and open the door to coveted speaking opportunities.
My clients write about:
  • LEADERSHIP + BUSINESS OPERATIONS
  • PURPOSE-DRIVEN BUSINESSES
  • EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION
  • DIVERSITY, EQUITY + INCLUSION
  • SOCIAL IMPACT INITIATIVES
  • NONPROFIT MANAGEMENT
  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT
  • MANUFACTURING + SUPPLY CHAIN

A smart, sassy, and fiercely loyal thought partner.

Quiet brilliance doesn’t earn you a reputation as a leader.

Early in my career, I worked with a brilliant researcher at a non-governmental organization in Washington, D.C. She was smart, insightful, and warm. Her colleagues respected her intellect and relied on her to edit and fact-check articles, reports, and speeches. But she never took the leap and shared her own research. So, when it came time to select the lead researcher for a new project, she was not even considered.

This story is all too common.
Erica Holthausen, Founder of Catchline Communications
So many brilliant people want just a little more time to refine their ideas, to make sure they are perfect before sharing them publicly. But perfection is an unachievable goal.

And the pursuit of perfection is holding you back.

I’m Erica Holthausen, the founder of Catchline Communications. I’ve worked as a copywriter, grant writer, writing instructor, and freelance writer. I've served on editorial boards and freelanced as an editor for private companies and professional associations. I’ve invested in professional development to improve my craft and received certification from ACES: The Society for Editing and The Poynter Institute.

What I’ve learned working with consultants and business coaches is that a clear roadmap, practical tips, and accountability are a great start, but not always enough. Fears and self-doubt keep even the most brilliant business leaders from getting their ideas out into the world.

And that’s where I come in — the A.J. MacInerney to your Andrew Shepherd. (If you’ve never seen The American President, go watch it.)

I help leaders like you get your ideas out into the world. I give you the tools you need to succeed along with techniques for breaking free of the fear and owning your brilliance. It’s not all rainbows and unicorns — I tell you what you need to hear so you can write and publish articles that are actually worth reading.
