Erica Holthausen Founder + Principal Strategist
Erica Holthausen is the founder of Catchline Communications, a collective of writers and editors partnering with consultants and business coaches to position them as sought-after experts. She coaches her clients through the process of writing, pitching, and publishing high-quality, original articles.
Erica started her career as an attorney and credits her legal training with teaching her to use persuasive writing techniques, ask the right questions, and communicate complex ideas with power and clarity. In law school, she served on the Journal of Law and Politics editorial board and was awarded a Dillard Fellowship, a teaching assistant position in the legal research and writing program.
A contributing writer for USGBC, Traditional Building, and Period Homes, Erica is also a freelance editor for several association publications. She holds a B.A. from The George Washington University and a J.D. from the University of Virginia. When she isn't writing your can find her exploring the Connecticut shoreline or reading a good book.
Karen Scalia Staff Writer + Editor
Karen Scalia is a staff writer and editor at Catchline Communications. An entrepreneur with an extensive background in marketing and communications, Karen is an actor, voiceover artist, and writer with a penchant for finding and telling a good story.
A published writer whose work includes screenplays and monologues along with articles, newsletters, press releases, and promotional materials, she is a skilled researcher and interviewer. Her understanding of story and structure also makes her an invaluable editor.
Karen is the founder of Salem Food Tours, an award-winning food and event business that has been featured in Northshore Magazine, The Boston Globe, HuffPost, and The Sunday Business Post. She holds a B.S. from Emerson College. When she isn't writing or advocating for small businesses, you can find her picking up fresh and local produce at the farmer's market, preparing a beautiful meal, or cycling with friends.
